“SBF is definitely worth visiting”

Just recently Blues lovers from all over celebrated the fifth edition of the Suwalki Blues Festival. “It was my first visit, not just to the Blues Festival, but to Suwalki at all and I am very impressed with what they have achieved in just five years of their festival”, said Torgeir Fossli from Notodden.

Together with Notodden’s mayor Joern Christensen and Tom Gustavsen, director of the Notodden Blues Festival Torgeir Fossli enjoyed a celebration of Blues in northern Poland. The Norwegian was touched by the hospitality he experienced in Suwalki. “The large crowd in the streets showed that this is a festival that really was appreciated by the people of Suwalki, while the strong presence of the press carried the message that this has become a festival of both national and international interest.

This year’s program was of high quality and was diverse enough that most people could find great concert experiences. Dave Ellis Blues Band (UK, PL), B. B. & the blues shacks (DE) and Cedric Burnside Project (US) were just some of the many enthusiastic bands who made Suwalki and its guests dance.

“For us who are also interested in how it is organized, we were particularly impressed with the efficiency of the rigging and dismantling of the stage and audience areas”, commented Fossli.
