How did you get to know and got interested in joining IC Network?
I got to know about IC Network from Trans in Form project in Trakai conference, our good cooperation partners Aremark and Marker from Norway are members of the IC Network and they encouraged Vecpiebalga to join the Network, lastly I received the letter of invitation from the Secretary General Alf S. Johansen. All these factors convinced us to become a member of the IC Network.
Our expectations are to get involved in the international projects and activities as a partner, to learn from partners’ best practice and share our experience.
Maybe you already have ideas for the future projects?
We are interested to develop projects for youth. Nature protection, preservation of cultural heritage and business support are the key development topics for Vecpiebalga .
Tell us a little bit about Vecpiebalga and your favorite places, please.
Vecpiebalga Municipality was established on 1st of June, 2009 and it includes 5 parishes Vecpiebalga, Kaive, Ineši, Taurene and Dzerbene. Total area is 204,5 km2, population is approx. 5000. Vecpiebalga is one of the most famous historical territories in Latvia. It is famous with its beauty of nature, culture heritage and folk traditions. It is a culture cradle of Latvia as many outstanding Latvian writers, poets, musicians have grown up and worked there. You can enjoy the picturesque beauty of nature in Vecpiebalga. Forests, rivers and lakes provide opportunities for an outstanding tourism experience.
The village Inesi which belongs to Vecpiebalga municipality is my home place. My favorite place is Vecpiebalga Manor House and ambient beautiful park with special aura and nice trees.
