Help to personalize the massive challenge climate change presents by taking a photo and telling your story via www.earthday.org. How has climate change impacted you? What are you doing to be part of the solution? Be part of the movement and celebrate today: Earth Day 2013

Every year on April 22, more than one billion people take part in Earth Day. Across the globe, individuals, communities, organizations, and governments acknowledge the amazing planet we call home and take action to protect it.

Picture by U.S. Embassy Tel Aviv's photostream on Flickr: To celebrate last year’s Earth Day, Embassy staff and community, together with representatives from the City of Tel Aviv, planted a garden in the vicinity of the beach at Jaffa Slope Park. The Embassy staff toured the park and learned a little more about its history as an environmental success story. Ambassador Dan Shapiro and Mayor Ron Huldai welcomed the volunteers and planted a pair of trees in the garden in honor of Earth Day 2012. Members of the Embassy community were excited to get their hands muddy planting flowers. After becoming a member of the “League of Green Embassies,” the U.S. Embassy Tel Aviv has reduced energy consumption by 10 percent in the past four months and collected over 2,000 bottles to recycle. The Green Team is exploring new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and to grow our “green” relationship with the city of Tel Aviv.
