Globalization process is setting new demographic trends and tendencies in the European Union and especially in the Baltic Sea Region. It is crucial to come up with new ideas and an action plan in order to continue in successfully developing wellbeing of people in the area as well as maintaining competitiveness in the knowledge society. Therefore, BSSSC conference was a great opportunity to outline the chances and potential Baltic Sea Region has.

The sessions of the BSSSC Conference introduced participants to regional, national and EU activities in the field of qualification.
Workshops offered dialogue on different topics such as:
-          education (with focus on school systems)
-          cooperation in the field of Universities
-          lifelong learning and knowledge society
-          youth in the labor market
-          mobility in the work force
-          migration caused by the demographic changes

Mr. Alf S. Johansen, the Secretary General of Innovation Circle Network was giving a speech about the migration issues in the Baltic Sea Region, illustrating it with statistics and defining the possible reasons of these causes. Beside that, good practice and few ideas implemented by IC Network were shared and gained interest of the participants.

Paralelly to the main BSSSC Conference, project Idea Café was taking place on 13th of October. Baltic Sea Region programme specialists gave presentations, supplementing them with project examples. Hopefully new ideas were inspired here.

Views of young people were expressed in the youth seminar “Active Inclusion of Young People – Young People’s Way to the Labor Market”. Active youth representatives from different member countries of EU discussed about topical youth unemployment issues and ways to solve the problem. Working groups were dealing with such topics as formal and non-formal education, mobility of youngsters, migration issues, demographic changes and challenges. Besides that, constant self-improvement and active dialogue were pointed out as essential in the young people’s positions to labor market. Creative techniques and interaction lead to conclusions and results were presented on the BSSSC Annual Conference.
